HOW TO DRESS FOR AN OFF-THE-GRID FASHION SHOW

I was recently invited to my first fashion show in Houston and let me tell you, it was an experience. Fashion Haus HTX presented Off The Grid at the Lyric Tower in Downtown Houston hosted by Yazzy Brown. It’s an extravagant production that Yazzy puts on annually to showcase the local talents around the Houston area.

I attended fashion shows during my college days, so it’s been a while since I’ve immersed myself in the fashion world. I was delighted that I found this opportunity to get back into something that I’m passionate about and absolutely adore. I’ve been prepping for weeks to find the perfect outfit, accessories, shoes, and don’t forget my hair. The invitation made the dress code clear: Haute Couture, High Fashion, Editorial, or avant-garde. First and foremost, if you are not aware of what each one of these styles is, just do a simple Google search. That is what helped me pull inspiration for my outfit for the show and figure out what mood I was going for.

After reviewing my mood board, I eventually decided to go for an editorial look so I went for a sleek black midi dress with a two-way zipper, then I paired that with a light blue oxford button-up shirt underneath the dress. I wanted to add some more color and chose Barbie pink mule heels. For the accessories, I had to go with my staple gold link bracelet and oversized round gold earrings.
