Houston Fashion Week was in full effect this week and truly eventful and hectic, I’m going to make this a two-part run down. Since it was my first time attending fashion week, I knew I was in for a treat, so I wanted to have as much fun with each outfit. I could not participate in all five shows, so I attended Day 1 ‘A Night of Wonder’, and Day 2 ‘A Night of Camp’.
Of course, I wanted to be on theme as much as possible and thought long and hard about how I wanted to pull inspiration for my outfit and that can be such an exciting but daunting task. Lately, I have been craving to dress up in a metallic and glittery outfit and then it dawned on me that those two are a perfect combination for the ‘A Night of Wonder’ theme. I recently purchased a silver metallic mini skirt, and I thought it would look perfect with a simple detailed pantyhose. I wanted something that screamed sultry, so I added this diamond studded bralette to go over a basic white tank and then paired the outfit with the cutest black chunky heels.

Now the show was giving EVERYTHING, from the colors, fabric choices, amazing prints, innovation, and creativity. I want to highlight this designer, Guillermo Alayon, and his In Love MX collection is heavily inspired by his rich Mexican background and his love for Houston culture and combining the two. His collection was a breath of fresh air with his use of luchador masks worn by many of the models, to the cowboy boots and hats giving a nod to Houston culture. It was one of the best experiences Houston had to offer and excited to look forward to many more shows.

I had such a fun time at my first show. What would you have worn to your first fashion week show? And don’t forget to stay tuned for part two of my fashion week run down.
